Francisco Crespo Acevedo, born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, is a distinguished artist and designer renowned for his dynamic contributions to the visual arts. Crespo’s academic journey in the arts began at the Escuela Vocacional de Artes Plásticas in Cárdenas-Matanzas, followed by advanced studies at the Escuela Provincial de Artes Plásticas de Matanzas and culminating at the prestigious Escuela Nacional de Arte (Cubanacán) in Havana.

Crespo’s professional career is marked by a versatile engagement in painting, scenography, and graphic design, spanning multiple continents. From 1975 to 1979, he served as a professor of plastic arts in Matanzas and Isla de Pinos, Cuba. His early professional work included significant advisory roles for the Cuban Ministry of Culture, both domestically and in Nicaragua.

During the 1980s, Crespo held pivotal roles in the Cuban television industry, eventually becoming the Head of the Scenographic Design Department. His tenure included creating impactful murals and scenographic art. The 1990s saw Crespo’s international expansion as an independent artist, with notable projects in Spain, Ecuador, and the United States. A highlight of this period was his role as the head of the scenographic painting department for Fernando Trueba’s Oscar-winning film “Two Much.”

Crespo’s relocation to Tenerife from 2004 to 2013 marked a prolific phase, where he established his own studio and produced several acclaimed series, including “Made in Cuba.” His work during this period also encompassed freelance graphic design for the University of La Laguna.
