Francisco Crespo Trajectory

Francisco Crespo Acevedo, born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, in 1953, is an outstanding visual artist with a rich academic and professional background. His journey through the world of art began at the Vocational School of Plastic Arts of Cárdenas-Matanzas, Cuba (1963-1965), and continued during his training years at the Provincial School of Plastic Arts of Matanzas (1965-1969) and the National School of Art (Cubanacán) in Havana, Cuba (1969-1973).

Professional Trajectory

From 2019 to 2024, Crespo has dedicated himself to expanding his artistic concepts and techniques, creating new series that explore diverse styles and possibilities. 

Crespo Art Studio

Among his most notable series during this period are “Hurricanes,” “The Oneiric After the Landscape,” “The Dancers Series,” “The Leonardo Series,” “The Universe of Apples,” “Marilyn,” “Brickell Photographs,” and “The Roosters Series.” His work in “Mural Designs” and “Torsos” also stands out as significant contributions to his evolving portfolio.

Crespo Art Studio Biography

Between 2011 and 2018, Crespo returned to Miami, where he worked in set design, carrying out designs and scenographic commissions for several television channels, including Mega TV (Artistic Director) and Channel 51 (Editing). He also served as Artistic Director for Crespo Art Studio Inc., specializing in interior solutions.
From 2004 to 2013, Crespo established his painting studio in Tenerife, where he created the famous series “MADE IN CUBA” and “LA SERIE VECINAS.” During this period, he also worked as a graphic designer and interior designer. His design work for the University of La Laguna and participation in several personal and group exhibitions on the island further highlight his versatility and skill.
Between 2002 and 2004, Crespo returned to painting and scenographic solutions in Miami. Noteworthy interventions during this time include work on local channels such as Canal 51 (Tele-Mundo) and Canal 41 (América TV), collaborating closely with the prominent director and producer Eduardo Caseres Manso.

From 1992 to 2002, Crespo focused his artistic production in Seville (Spain), Guayaquil (Ecuador), and Miami (USA). He worked with the distinguished designer Carlos Arditti, establishing a close student-teacher relationship. This collaboration culminated in the film “Two Much” by Fernando Trueba, where Crespo supervised the scenic and artistic painting department.

Crespo’s career encompasses a diverse array of artistic roles:

• Director of the Scenographic Design Department of Cuban Television (1986-1990)
• Plastic Arts Advisor to the Ministry of Culture in the Province of Havana, Cuba
• Advisor for the Plastic Arts of the Ministry of Culture of Nicaragua
• Professor of Plastic Arts, specializing in sculpture, at the Provincial School of Art of Matanzas and on the Isle of Pines (1973-1979).
